With just over a week to go until our next Manchester event, we’re thrilled to introduce our expert panel.

Thea (MD) and Luke (Exec Producer) will kick off the session sharing what they’ve learned about how to ensure a smooth production process and make video content that has real impact, including:

–       When is the right time to use video

–       The different kinds of video and matching these to your objectives

–       Setting a strong brief

–       Getting more bang for your buck

–       How to make your video content cinematic to help it stand out

Thea and Luke will then be joined by three esteemed panelists to delve even further with expert input about commissioning and production followed by a Q & A and a drink or two.

Laura Thomas: Head of Paid SocialMediaCom North

Laura’s currently Head of Paid Social for MediaCom North Group, based in Manchester, focusing on scaling of one of the fasted growing departments at MediaCom. Laura’s core values centre around passionate leadership, and as such she focuses on developing strong, engaged and expert teams and providing meaningful and inspirational consultancy and ideas for clients across the group. In the last four years, Laura’s progressed through various roles at MediaCom including Head of Display & Head of Digital Media Strategy and within those roles has conceptualised multi-award winning campaigns for clients like New Balance and Missguided.

Neil Williams: Head of Film – Havas Lynx

Havas Lynx are the current Cannes Healthcare Agency Of The Year. Neil heads up a film production team of 19 people, comprising of creatives / producers / editors / animators and 3d artists. Working on 70+ film and animation projects a month, Havas Lynx regularly partner with external production companies to help deliver their multi-client award winning projects.

Michael Lewin: Senior Commissioner – NOWNESS

Michael oversees all commercial creative content and develops editorial strategy and direction at NOWNESS, as well as establishing their China office in Shanghai and overseeing its commercial content. His commissioned work has won at awards from the Webbys and Lovies to Clermont-Ferrand, LSFF, Aesthetica and many more, working with talent from Frank Gehry to Bjork and clients from Mercedes, Gucci and Versace to the National Gallery and Christie’s.

Previously. Michael was Creative Director of music branded content agency LoveLive, where his Levi’s Support Music campaign with Skepta and the V&A won the Drum’s Best Entertainment Campaign, and before that he was editor of music and fashion magazine Notion, commissioning creative with artists like Miley Cyrus, Pharrell and Ariana Grande.

The session is for any agency decision makers, business owners and brand marketing teams involved in commissioning video. It will be particularly helpful if you’re fairly new to commissioning video; you’re not getting the results you need from your campaigns; or you’re on the lookout for some fresh tips and inspiration to help make your brand films fly.

Your Hosts

Thea runs Maker, a creative production company that tells brands’ stories using the power of film. She has a natural flair for helping brands engage with audiences in a way that respects and moves them. Since 2003 Maker have been creating exceptional video content for Adidas, Asics, AstraZeneca, Cancer Research, Dare 2b, Finisterre, Gaggenau, NHS, Stylist and Umbro.

Luke came on board in 2015 for Maker’s expansion into London, bringing 18 years’ experience as a live action, post-production, VFX and CGI producer for brand films and TV ads. An engaging speaker, Luke will bring some fun to proceedings while sharing what he’s learned over nearly two decades at the frontline of video production. Last year the team won 11 awards across the Cannes Lions, Clios, Drum Marketing Awards, Northern Marketing Awards and PM Society Awards for clients including AstraZeneca, Gaggenau and Nichols.
